THE CHALLENGE
Clocking bearings are not detectable early enough through traditional vibration-based CMS systems.
THE SOLUTION
Poseidon’s online wear debris sensor can detect clocking bearings early before they cause misalignment and secondary damage.
Key Benefits:
- Detects, sizes, and classifies (ferrous vs. nonferrous) metallic particles
- Provides real-time, online asset health information
- Pattern recognition enable very early fault detection
- Minimizes repair costs through early detection
- Maximizes operating life of gearbox
- Detects faults missed by borescoping and vibration analysis
Poseidon Systems’ Trident DM4500 Online Wear Debris sensor is able to detect clocking bearing faults sooner than vibe sensors. This enables sooner repairs and less secondary damage done to the asset. This case study looks at a customer who was able to find and identify clocking bearing faults in several assets based on unique wear generation patterns associated with this specific fault time. The customer was able to make the repairs sooner than if they were not using online wear debris monitoring and save approximately $12,000 in reduced secondary damage and repair time per fault.
